Bike and Hike (5-8)

Get ready for outdoor summer adventure with Bike & Hike! This class is tailor-made for bike-loving students who can breeze through an hour-long ride in a group. Grab your helmets and saddle up on a bike with gears and wheels that are at least 24 inches. Learn bike safety tips and get your bike registered with Glencoe Public Safety. But that's not all – our journey extends to exploring Glencoe's scenic trails, lagoons, and beach. Join us for a summer filled with pedal-powered excitement and fun hikes!

Camp Lego (1-6)

Camp Lego is all about building, creativity and STEAM! Using Legos and accessories, students will engineer, build communities, model and explore STEAM concepts. With a perfect blend of structured learning and open-ended play, the Camp Lego will spark creativity and foster critical thinking.

Comic Kids (3-8)

Kids will explore visual storytelling by reading Graphic Novels and creating their own cartoons. Readers, Writers and Illustrators will have the opportunity to use their creativity in developing their visual literacy in this fun & hands-on class.

Learn the basic structure of newswriting and tackle a variety of articles including Exploration's news and happenings, local news, national news, weather, sports, book/movie/gaming reviews, interviews with staff and students, puzzles, cartoons, and more. There is something for everyone in this newsworthy class!

Ice Cream Masterclass (1-8)

We will build a shared understanding of what it means to be kind and how to implement showing kindness to others. We will explore kindness through role playing/problem solving, keeping a daily kindness journal about kindness students have observed and/or what they did to promote kindness, practicing empathy for others, creating a kindness interactive wall, baking for our families, and reading books about kindness. We will work together to create ways that we could spread kindness to others through collaboration with different organizations (dog shelters, homeless children, to other students and teachers around West, etc). .

Awesome arts and crafts class where students will be encouraged to express their creativity while working on a variety of projects! Students will use watercolor, acrylic, and tempera paints, Mod Podge, tissue, construction, and designer papers, and many other mediums while creating their crafts! Students will definitely be proud to display their crafty and creative creations!

Picture Perfect: Exploring Photography & Collage (3-4)

Grades: 3-4

In this introductory section, students will learn how to use the iPad to take simple, creative photos of their surroundings. They'll experiment with different angles, lighting, and composition, then print out their best shots to incorporate into colorful collages. By cutting out pieces from magazines, papers, and fabric, they’ll mash up their photographs with texture, color, and pattern to create fun, personalized artwork. The focus is on exploration, creativity, and learning to mix digital and traditional art techniques.
