Children will “perform” by reading scripts created from grade-level books or stories. This class will combine reading practice and performing with props and movement. This course will help develop fluency, comprehension, and reading skills.

Let’s put the Art in STEM! STEAM learning encourages creativity, curiosity, and teamwork! Students will have so much fun making a colorful display with exploding sidewalk chalk, seeing their drawings “magically” morph, creating a painting with magnets, and many other projects that will encourage them to explore the science behind the magic!
The Art of Digital Photography & Paper Collage (5-6)

In this section, students will take their photography skills to the next level by experimenting with more advanced iPad features, such as adjusting focus, exposure, and editing tools. They'll focus on capturing themes like nature, architecture, and portraits, and use their photos as the base for complex collages. Found materials such as old magazines, fabric scraps, and other textures will be used to complement and enhance their digital images, creating layered, artistic compositions.

Calling all 1st-3rd graders who want to have fun with literacy this summer! This class will include literacy centers and games phonics, read alouds, small group and partner work, free writing and illustrations, And much more!
Kindness Club (1-4)

We will build a shared understanding of what it means to be kind and how to implement showing kindness to others. We will explore kindness through role playing/problem solving, keeping a daily kindness journal about kindness students have observed and/or what they did to promote kindness, practicing empathy for others, creating a kindness interactive wall, baking for our families, and reading books about kindness. We will work together to create ways that we could spread kindness to others through collaboration with different organizations (dog shelters, homeless children, to other students and teachers around West, etc). .
Kreative Kids (1-4)

Awesome arts and crafts class where students will be encouraged to express their creativity while working on a variety of projects! Students will use watercolor, acrylic, and tempera paints, Mod Podge, tissue, construction, and designer papers, and many other mediums while creating their crafts! Students will definitely be proud to display their crafty and creative creations!
Zen Masters (5-8)

Grades: 5-8
Unlock creativity and calm with Zen Masters, the ultimate Summer Explorations class! From crafting personal Zen gardens and designing colorful mosaics to diamond painting and DIY fidgets, kids can choose projects that inspire them. With additional activities like journaling, coloring, puzzling and more, this class is designed to help students reduce stress and discover their inner peace—all while having fun and making new friends.
